AUCHTENNY FOLD PEDIGREE HIGHLAND CATTLE

• Auchtenny Fold was established in 1998 with the purchase of three ELITE health status, pedigree heifers. Located at over 900ft in the rolling Ochil Hills of southern Perthshire, Auchtenny is a small hill farm of 74 acres, comprising steep pastures of species-rich unimproved grassland.

• Auchtenny Fold is not organic and all cattle are regularly wormed and protected from nuisance and biting flies, the fold health plan ensures that all cattle are treated proactively and preventatively, hopefully resulting in potential problems being recognised and treated before they turn into expensive disasters.

• All our cattle are selected and bred for their good temperament and ease of handling, some of these traits being genetic, the rest achieved by regular handling from an early age. Bloodlines have been chosen carefully to maintain and produce a classic animal, well suited to the high pastures at Auchtenny.

• Cattle from Auchtenny Fold are shown at a number of agricultural shows during the summer including Perth , Kinross, West Fife, Central Fife, Doune and Dunblane, Braco, Kirriemuir, Stirling and Dalmally. In addition the fold will exhibit for the first time at The Royal Highland Show and The Glasgow Show in 2006.

• Auchtenny Fold occasionally has home-bred stock for sale. Please do get in touch if you would like to view the cattle, we enjoy visitors seeing the Highlanders in their natural environment.
